The electric revolution is just round the corner. There are already EVs (Electric Vehicles – for those who have been sleeping) have hit the roads and many are on the drawing boards. 2 wheelers, 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers and many wheelers are getting launched in the coming couple of years.
2 Wheelers
Some of these are already available and are Chinese imports. Notable Indian players are Ather, Tork and couple of more startups. The big boys like Bajaj, Hero and TVS are yet to enter this space, though they have some in the making.
3 Wheelers
Some home grown electric 3 wheelers or electric rickshwas are on the road, but have not yet caught up with the market. From my thought the electric rick can be a game changer as there is a large potential to clean up the city air and since these also tend to be short runs inside city, they would be ideal with the current limitations that plague the electric vehicle.
4 Wheelers
Tesla broke all rules to set this space up for 4 wheelers and ever since there have been numerous companies trying to build on the same, but non have succeeded to the extent.
Electric Trucks and Buses
These have been slowly making in-roads, though their adoption has been slow due to their prohibitive costs. But sooner than later, you shall see these catching up.
